Innovation in Green Design Award and the Massachusetts Green Building of the Year Award

The Innovation in Green Design Award was started in 2008 as a way to recognize the most innovative green buildings and products in Massachusetts.  Past winners have showed ingenuity, replicability, and scored well on the triple bottom line, an important concept in sustainability that considers the building’s overall impact on economic prosperity, environmental quality, and social equity.

There are three award categories this year:

 

Each year in early April, USGBC MA collects the award submissions. The project board submissions are displayed at the Chapter's Annual Earth Day Party and the awards are presented at this event. The date of this year’s Annual Earth Day Party is April 10th, 2013, 5:30-9pm at Two International Place, 100 Oliver St in Boston.

 

 

Why Should I Enter?

There are many benefits to entering your building project, technology or innovative product.

  • Recognition – submissions will be put on display at the Earth Day Celebration as well as at various USGBC MA events. Award entrants will be highlighted on the USGBC MA website and in the media surrounding the Earth Day Celebration.
  • Feedback – the submissions will be judged by a panel of 3-5 judges and a summary of responses will be available to entrants upon request.
  • Inspiration – the awards are designed to highlight Massachusetts’s innovation in green design, building and practice.  They recognize buildings that best live up to their green design potential and help raise the bar for future buildings.

Entry criteria and project submission requirements differ for the Innovation in Green Design Awards and the Massachusetts Green Building of the Year Award.

What is the submission deadline? 

All submissions are due Friday, March 29th at 5pm.  

Innovation in Green Design submission should be dropped off or mailed to the USGBC MA Offices (Attn: Grey Lee at Space with a Soul - 281 Summer Street, 5th Floor, Boston MA 02210).

Massachusetts Green Building of the Year submissions should be emailed to: Paul Brown pbrown@vfa.com.
